The composition here is ,of two figures/ couple holding one another along with a staggered arrangement of human faces representing the Society.
The Two figures , with an element of isolation, distress, sadness that is expressed in their eyes. Their lean posture symbolizing their limited means of resources for survival.
Hands around each other indicating the attachment & affection they have despite their challenging times. The moon –star shaped earing of hers
symbolize the immense potential she has of holding on.

The eye shaped, buttons are an indication of a very strong and radiating  self conscious that has embibed their dignity. The expression being , of those who wear their dignity. The human faces on the other hand depict society. Their heads turning in different directions depicting their ways of perception. The Eyes with out an eye ball depicting an opinionated mob with out individualism.
